Setting Professional Goals for 2020

2020 Goal Setting Guide for Estheticians

Setting goals and intentions for your professional life (and personal life!) is an important practice that can help you succeed and follow your dreams!

  • Stay focused on your goals in an age of information overload
  • Bring clarity to your purpose and dreams
  • Learn from your experiences (good and bad) and adjust accordingly when moving forward

This can be done weekly, monthly, or quarterly, and New Years is always a great time to sit and reassess what was working in your business in the past, and what may not be working any longer.

We have designed a simple series of Journal Prompts to help you find more clarity and set new goals for the year ahead!

It’s best to find some stillness beforehand, so we recommend you set aside an hour or two this weekend where you can be quiet, undisturbed, and take some time to reconnect to yourself. If you like to find inner peace with meditation, a long bath or walk, or a nice cup of tea, add this important self care time to your calendar!

2020 Goal Setting Prompts

Once you have taken some deep breaths and are more present, ask yourself the following questions, and see what comes up for you.

1. What are your top 3 successes from 2019? Which clients, experiences, or milestones brought you feelings of pride, accomplishment, joy, service, etc? Take a few moments to reflect on those feelings and give yourself a pat on the back for all you achieved in 2019!

2. Which of these successes would you like to repeat or expand upon in your business this coming year? What feelings are most important to you in relation to your Skincare Business?

3. What NEW goals or milestones would you live to achieve this year? This month? This week? (Breaking down goals into smaller, achievable, specific chunks can keep you motivated and feeling successful. For example, do you want to have one fully booked day, three fully booked days, your first $800 day in revenue, a five-star review online, etc.)

4. Turn these goals into positive “I AM/I HAVE” statements of intention, save them in your phone or stick them on your bathroom mirror, and read them daily or weekly! (For example, I AM fully booked in February, or I HAVE 3 new clients each month this year, or I AM offering a new service each quarter.)

5. What 3 areas am I most overwhelmed by in my business? What have you been putting off, where are you feeling less than confident or frustrated?

6. How can I find solutions for these issues? (For example, can you ask for help from your Esthetics mentor, or join a free Esthetician support groups on Facebook and reading through old posts [find our Private Facebook Group for Estheticians here!], or look into hiring a business coach?)

We are so proud of our talented and dedicated clients, and we know you will continue to grow, learn, and radiate beauty in 2020!

It can be helpful to revisit some or all of these exercises periodically, checking in with your intentions and noting what is and isn’t working for you. You do not need to judge yourself if you don’t achieve a specific goal in a specific amount of time, or give up on your big dreams even if they seem unattainable in this moment.

Success in the beauty industry takes time, passion, perseverance, an open mind, and most of all the willingness to learn from your mistakes and keep moving forward!
