Q: When and why did you go into business?
I remember the day in 1998 that I had an epiphany. I was a massage therapist working at a chiropractors office. I was making twenty dollars an hour, which I thought was great money… Until one day, when I was talking to the office manager, I saw that he was billing insurance $120/hr!I vowed right then and there that I would always be self-employed and put all the money in my pocket! So I did and have been self-employed for 25 years. I was a massage therapist for 15 years, and asked my husband if I could go to esthetics school. He said no. I ended up divorcing the cheater and he paid for my school. (Ha)
Q: Looking back, what do you wish you'd known as
a brand new esthetician?
I wish I had a mentor to help me avoid so many rookie mistakes.Even 25 years later, I still have MANY mentors!
Q: What are your favorite brands and resources for
serving your customers?
I absolutely love product testing and always keep up on the latest and greatest ingredients and trends for skincare. It’s very important to me to use and retail products from companies that truly support our industry.My two favorite companies are Glymed Plus and Circadia. I also private label some products to create a line that is unique to my brand.
